Purpose:

•     To provide operational and strategic HR consultancy to senior managers in their designated business groups, with strong knowledge of their whole business - customers, products, pressures, people and politics.
•     Act as the primary strategic HR contact within the business, bringing back any issues and business needs to HR for them to be planned, resourced and resolved effectively, in a timely manner.
•     As an integral member of the HR team, the job holder will carry out operational activities across designated business groups and may be responsible for the appraisals and development of less experienced colleagues in the HR department.
•     Also, the jobholder is a true HR professional focused on providing a range of operational HR services and solutions to the business.

Scope and Impact:

•     The jobholder is an experienced HR generalist who works in partnership primarily with senior and middle managers in their designated business groups. As an integral member of their management teams, they provide operational and strategic HR guidance and delivery of a range of HR activities.
•     A true HR professional focused on providing a range of operational HR services and solutions to the business. They also work alongside other members to provide information, advice and project management across all business groups. They will act as a mentor or coach as well as a source of reference for less experienced members of the various teams.
•     The job holder is directly responsible for the full scope of HR activities (recruitment, industrial relations, management development, remuneration, etc) and the implementation of corporate policies in a medium country/site/cluster, covering 100-200 employees. May have other activities (office management, etc).- responsibility for the full scope of HR activities in a large country/site/cluster.

Roles and Responsibility:

•    Get actively involved in business decision-making - contributing to overall business discussions largely when HR is on the agenda, having the credibility and business knowledge to be consulted and actively contribute.
•     Proactively help managers and their teams in their designated business groups to embed the performance management framework - moderate & challenge performance ratings, lead mission analysis discussions, provide ongoing feedback to managers about their contribution.
•     Actively develop line managers’ human resource management skills to aid the transition to a fully effective shared service model. Help them understand their HR risks and how to effectively manage them. 
•     Act as a Project Manager, leading the implementation of local and some global initiatives using appropriate project management skills and resources. 
•     Contribute strong HR knowledge across various teams in the business, in terms of giving advice, solving problems and carrying out project work in the following areas: - Recruitment- Compensation & Benefits- Performance Management- Employee Relations & Communications- Organizational Change - Talent Management- Career development- Training- Health & Safety & compliance- Other HR policies.
•    May carry out the appraisals and be responsible for the development of HR Advisors within the HR team. Obtain and provide ongoing feedback to colleagues for the purpose of performance management and development.
•   Channel customer feedback to the relevant areas of the HR department to ensure continuous service improvement.
•   Actively source and share external best practice and knowledge of HR & the business with HR colleagues and peers.

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

•  8- 10 years + generalist and/or specialist HR experience preferably in 2 or more business disciplines .
•  Experience of advising and influencing senior & middle managers - ability and willingness to challenge their decisions and coach them on their own contribution. 
•  Ability to manage conflicting situations, remain calm and identify when others are having difficulty in influencing customers.
•  Has strong personal credibility to be a valued and trusted member of management teams and of the HR team.
•  Strong people management skills - coaching & mentoring, delegation & performance management. 
•  Strong employment law knowledge and experience of having dealt with unions desirable. Has proven experience of dealing with sensitive issues in a complex, changing environment.
•  Good overall business knowledge & a commercial approach with the ability to draw on the appropriate legislation and best practice to put forward & implement applicable HR solutions.
•  Understand the business they are aligned to and its strategic direction and make links to HR requirements.
•  Recognise the impact of emerging issues and work with the Head of HR to ensure matters are resourced and resolved in a timely manner by the relevant people.
•  Is fully competent & willing to implement both operational & strategic HR initiatives across a range of business groups as required.
•  Project discipline - possesses solid project management skills and techniques.
•  Has some experience and knowledge of key strategic HR capabilities such as organisational, culture & change management, talent management & learning and development. 
•  Some experience of large-scale change projects (e.g. rightsizing, outsourcing, mergers & acquisitions).
• Experience of working across cultures and different HR and business disciplines.
• Ability to converse in fluent Mandarin and English is essential for this position.
